Consultant in Emergency Medicine

Location: Carmarthen, Wales
Contract: Permanent

About the Role:
The Medical People is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join our dynamic team at a modern, purpose-built hospital in Carmarthen. As a key member of the Emergency Unit, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide top-tier emergency care, working closely with consultant physicians and surgeons. The hospital offers a comprehensive range of specialties, including Trauma, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, ENT, and Ophthalmology, supported by a modern Adult Critical Care Unit and Stroke unit.

Main Duties:

  • Deliver high-quality clinical care in Emergency Medicine, managing both medical and surgical emergencies.
  • Provide effective leadership to staff and contribute to the development of the specialty.
  • Engage in teaching and research activities, including training medical undergraduates and postgraduates.
  • Participate in clinical audits and CPD to maintain professional development and high standards of care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and service delivery.

Requirements:

  • Full GMC Registration and License to Practice.
  • Specialist Register with GMC or CCT, or CESR due within 6 months of interview date.
  • FRCEM and valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills.
  • Broad-based experience in Emergency Medicine and competence in the specialty.
  • Experience in clinical audit and understanding of clinical governance.
  • Desirable: Higher degree (MD, PhD, MSc) and evidence of research or additional clinical qualifications.
