Bluebird Care is the UK’s leading provider of private Care at Home. We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable Care Assistants to join our thriving agency providing a high-quality and much-needed service to vulnerable people all over Bromley, SE London.

Note: if you are not a British citizen or do not have the right to work in the UK, and/or you do not live local to our office, your application will not be taken forward.

* You must have access to a car for work to apply for this position *

We offer flexible working hours, as well as salaried fixed-shifts, but at the moment are predominately recruiting for Evenings and weekends.

We have additional opportunities for Night Shifts and Live-in Care, but are not recruiting carers for weekday daytime work at the present time.

What will you be doing?

Our Care Assistants work out in the community helping our customers to live independently in their own homes. Every customer will have had a personalised care plan which will include supporting them with simple, everyday tasks such as personal care, food prep, medication, shopping, housework, and social support; however, the primary objective is to help them get the most out of life!

Previous experience is not essential: a “can-do” attitude is all it takes, though no one is thrown straight in the deep end and expected to swim!

We offer a comprehensive pre-work Skills Assessment program, a week shadowing a Mentor or other experienced member of the team, and a 12-week probationary period during which you’ll be supervised closely while completing The Care Certificate.

Who are we looking for?

You need to be calm and patient with an ability to think on your feet and remain professional in occasionally stressful situations – but above all, you need to be 100% committed to helping improve the quality of life of vulnerable people.

If you have raised a child, cared for an older relative, or done any form of community service or voluntary work, paid or unpaid, then it’s very likely that you have all the attributes we’re looking for.

You also need to live in or within a reasonable commute of Bromley, have access to a car that you can use for work, a clean criminal record.

What are we offering in return?

  • Competitive rates of basic pay: £12.50 - £14.60 per hour post probation
  • Tax-free mileage paid at 35p per mile
  • 4 weeks paid annual leave, plus 8 Bank Holidays
  • A comprehensive pre-work Skills Assessment program
  • £175 bonus for completing training
  • £265 refer-a-friend bonus scheme
  • Company pension scheme
  • Opt-in private medical insurance scheme
  • A route to formal qualifications (e.g. L2/L3/L5 Diplomas in Health & Social Care)
  • On-going training and support from a friendly office team
  • A genuine opportunity for career progression in a high-growth industry
