Job Description

REPORTING TO: The Registered Manager. 

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE: 

To assist in the provision of a high-quality service that enables the people we support to develop an independent and individual lifestyle and to work in accordance with the stated care plans, policies, philosophy, aims and objectives of Starlightliving. The job will require staff to work in supported tenancies, where Starlightliving provides accommodation and support/care for individuals who share housing. 

Staff will need to liaise with service users, as well as other support staff and management, in the delivery of care. Individual’s packages of care will mirror, local authority assessments and allocate shared and one to one time for specific tasks, which are documented in individual care plans. Staff will be required also to provide effective communication within the immediate team and to the management team. Such communication will include both daily issues but also contribution towards all parts of the service such as reviews for service users, house meetings, staff meetings, health and safety issues etc. 

All staff will be supported through training and guidance to work in accordance with current statutory legislation covering the Care sector. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • To work a pattern of shifts and ensure that the service users who they are working with are supported in line with their care plan and receive consistent support.
  •  To work both in a lone working capacity whilst on shift and also to contribute as part of a team, through meetings and reviews.
  • To follow any lists and plans in place at their work location such as daily checks, task and delegation sheets as highlighted at induction stage.
  • To liaise when necessary with the management team, in regard to service user issues staffing issues, shift planning, meeting needs and proving effective communication when handing over to other support staff or management. Attending staff meetings.
  • To oversee and maintain records kept within the service user’s home and to regularly archive to head office on a monthly basis, when delegated.
  •  To support service users with any health related support issues where applicable, e.g. making and attending doctor's appointments, and advocating where the need is assessed.
  •  To support service users with day to day support

tasks as highlighted in there care plans, including elements of support for personal care and administering medication.
