Job description
Female Support Worker – GU9, London
Part-Time | Flexible Holiday Hours | Job Share | Driver Required
About the Children:
Two vibrant and engaging children aged 9 and 14. The younger child is a cheerful, creative girl who enjoys arts and crafts and is learning piano. Her older brother is a bright and articulate teenager with a love for music and an insatiable curiosity about the world. He plays the saxophone and has a diagnosis of ADHD and Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC). He may display some behaviours that can be challenging at times, such as reluctance to get ready for school or making inappropriate comments to strangers.

Overview of the Role:
The primary focus is on daily care and routine, starting with helping the children get ready for school and driving them there. The morning routine—especially with the older child—requires patience, consistency, and a calm, firm approach, as it can take time to support him through transitions.
After school drop-off, the role continues with light household duties such as tidying children’s spaces, doing their laundry, or occasional batch cooking. In the afternoon, you’ll pick the children up from school, support them with homework, give them dinner and help with the bedtime routine.
During school holidays, you'll have the opportunity to organise and enjoy fun, stimulating activities like park visits, museum trips, or baking sessions. You’ll sometimes have sole charge of the children, while at other times you’ll accompany Mum on outings. The family plans to move to a fully adapted house nearby in the near future.
This is a job share role with another Support Worker, holiday hours can be agreed mutually.

About the Family:
Mum is a wheelchair user who requires general assistance with tasks like making a cup of tea or getting to the toilet. The family are warm and welcoming, and there’s also a friendly little dog who’s part of the daily routine.

Who This Job Would Suit:
This role is ideal for an outgoing female support worker with a good sense of humour, who enjoys engaging with children and doesn’t take things personally. You’ll have experience supporting children with autism, and a caring, patient, and flexible nature. A love for creativity and music is a bonus! You’ll need to be a confident driver and open to the idea of short trips abroad with the family.

What’s Great About This Job:
This is a truly rewarding opportunity to make a difference to a family’s day-to-day life. You’ll receive ongoing support from an experienced Case Manager and become a valued part of a lovely family’s support network.
