Being a Senior Carer role might be the next step on your career ladder. It is a varied role involving both working on the community and in the office. Being a Senior Carer involves having excellent planning and organisational skills, being able to work under pressure, dealing with change, having good negotiation skills, and being able to effectively deal with difficult situations.
You should have a minimum of 6 months experience in community care and be SVQ3 qualified. You should be committed to your personal and professional development and be willing to register with the SSSC.
You should be able to demonstrate care, compassion, and respect for others, have excellent communication skills, and work under your own initiative as well as being part of a wider home care team.
You should have a good understanding of the SSSC codes of practice, National Care Standards and other care legislation and practices, experience in care assessment planning and reviewing, risk assessments and deal with other health care professionals,.
As a Senior Carer you should be able to build effective working relationships within your team, supervise performance and provide training and mentoring to new and existing carers.
You must be able to drive and have your own vehicle for this role and take part in the ‘on-call’ rota for out of hours emergencies.
Applicants MUST be over 18 and have their own car and full driving licence as these are mostly community positions. These posts are based throughout West Lothian. The hours of the posts available may include mornings, tea calls and/ or bed downs. The working days are Monday to Friday plus alternate weekends. This post includes mileage and pro-rata holiday entitlement.

Interviews for the post will be held in Livingston, with successful candidates commencing an induction training program shortly after this. Please be aware that the induction training program is primarily held during office hours.
Successful applicants must provide a minimum of 2 references and either apply for a PVG Membership (£59), or update an existing PVG membership for adults (£18). Disclosure costs are the applicants responsibility.
